What data we process

This site has no contact forms and no restricted areas. It uses Google Analytics to measure visits, but only after you have allowed it: without consent the tool is not loaded and no data reaches Google.

Browsing data

The site is published via GitHub Pages. The hosting provider logs visitors' IP addresses and technical request data (date and time, requested page, browser type) for security and service-delivery purposes. We do not use this data to identify users and we do not cross-reference it with other information.

Data you send us

If you write to us by email or call us, we process the data you provide (name, contact details, content of your enquiry) for the sole purpose of replying and, where applicable, following up on the relationship.

Preferences stored in your browser

The site stores two technical pieces of information in your browser via localStorage: your language choice and your response to the informational banner. These are not cookies, they are not sent to any server, and they stay on your device.

The Open source page

The Open source page is the only one on the site that, when you open it, sends a request from your browser to somebody other than us and our hosting provider: it asks api.github.com for the public list of our repositories, with licence, last push date and star count. The request carries what every HTTP request carries — IP address, date and time, browser type — and reaches GitHub, Inc. (United States), which handles it under its own notice. We receive and keep nothing from that request, we do not use it to identify you and we do not cross-reference it with anything else; the page writes no cookie into your browser. If you would rather not contact GitHub, that page is not needed: the list of repositories is written into the site as well, and everything else works the same.

Purposes and legal bases

• Operating the site and keeping it secure — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and, for technical logs, the necessity of delivering the service.
• Replying to your enquiries — performance of a contract or pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and, for non-contractual communications, legitimate interest.
• Measuring site usage — consent of the data subject (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), withdrawable at any time.
• Meeting legal, accounting and tax obligations — legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

Recipients and transfers

Hosting is provided by GitHub, Inc. (United States), acting as a processor and engaged on the basis of standard contractual clauses and its published subprocessor list. The transfer to the United States relies on the safeguards set out in Chapter V of the GDPR. The same provider also receives, directly from your browser, the public-API request that fills the Open source page.

Where you give consent, usage data is also processed by Google Ireland Limited (Ireland) and Google LLC (United States) as processors, in order to provide Google Analytics. Transfers to the United States rely on the standard contractual clauses and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We do not sell or transfer personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

Retention

The _ga analytics cookies last 2 years; user-level data collected by Google Analytics is retained according to the retention window configured on the property.

Browsing data is retained by the hosting provider under its own security policies. Data relating to enquiries and relationships is kept for as long as needed to respond and, for accounting and tax obligations, for the periods required by law.

Your rights

You may exercise at any time the rights set out in Arts. 15-22 GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability. Write to [email protected]. If you believe the processing breaches the law, you may lodge a complaint with the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
